“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting
of a fire.”
–William Butler Yeats
The
Jesuits created their first tuition-free, college-prep middle
school at Nativity
Mission Center in New York in 1971. This new “Nativity”
school used small classes, extended academic days and a
longer school year to prepare students for success in college-prep
high schools, colleges and positions of community leadership.
By combining rigorous academic expectations with extra-curricular
enrichment activities, the first Nativity school became
a second home for its students.
Sixteen similar Jesuit Nativity schools now operate throughout
the country as part of the Nativity
Network. Like Chicago Jesuit Academy and the original
Nativity Mission Center, each school in the Nativity Network
gives students from underserved backgrounds a quality faith-based
education they otherwise could not access.

Chicago
Jesuit Academy prepares all of its students to succeed in
college-prep high schools. After high school, the Academy
expects all of our alumni to attend a college or university
that will enable them to further develop their personal,
professional and academic talents.
Our
commitment to our students extends beyond middle school
to include graduate support for our alumni during high school
and the transition to college. Young men who attend the
Academy will be the next generation of leaders in the City
of Chicago.
